"So far, I really enjoy using this computer. I love the backlit keyboard. I think it's a great
feature. The computer runs very fast; practically no lag. It's great! This is my first Toshiba computer, but
I wonder what took me so long to purchase a Toshiba."

"In most cases you get what you pay for. In this case it is a steal, it has the processing
speed to play the newest games and does not cost as much as most gaming laptops."

"Great powerful laptop; selected for the solid feel of the keyboard, feature / price ratio, and
reputation of Toshiba laptops. I looked at and physically checked out all of the competition before buying.
This laptop was the best value with the best solid keyboard. All the competing laptops had flimsy
keyboards."

"I originally got this computer in February but then Intel recalled the chipset (Sandy Bridge)
as being faulty. This replacement has the -X to indicate that it is the replacement version with the new
chip. This computer really flies through anything I throw at it. I like editing photographs and compared to
my old computer which is several years old-it is lightning fast. Can be doing several things at once and
notice that the cpu is only 10-15% utilized. The Harmon Kardon speakers are excellent. I don't think you can
get another laptop with as good sounding speakers as the Harmons that come on Toshiba laptops. I also enjoy
the backlit keyboard. I don't play any games that demand lots of processing power but I think this computer
would handle most of anything because of the graphics card that also comes with this model. It is anot an
entry level card that is only good for emails and surfing the net. It has a bit of "meat" to it. I recommend
that you consider this computer when looking in the price range of this model."

"This is a feature-rich laptop. Our other laptop is at least 10 years
old, so when we got this one we were blown away. It has all the features we needed, plus a Bluray player and
an HDMI outlet. Besides using it on the go, we use it to stream Netflix movies to our HDTV and the quality
is terrific, much better than the Bluray player in our entertainment center. Other reviews have mentioned
that the battery life is poor, but so far we haven't needed to use it more than a couple of hours in areas
where we coudln't plug it in."

A665-S5183X DON'T BE SO MODEST May 07,

"-------Background: I'm recently retired out of the Army Signal Corps.
Meaning, I'm fairly tech savvy and familiar with electronics/technology being my
interest and passion. I'll leave my background at that. In my review, I compare this
system to the iconic MAC because I find it to be a well respected and quality product.
Im most familiar with the Macbook Air-MBA (2010 2nd gen) and Macbook Pro-MBP (2011 MBP
13 i5) that I tried before settling down with this Toshiba A665-S5183X. ---Battery
Life:First of all, I purchased this laptop under the impression that battery life would
be terrible and I accepted that considering it's an i7 2nd Gen. What Toshiba does not
tell you is that there is an eco-boost system built in to power down all the high end
and power hungry components. The 2.55 hour battery life rating is with intense use such
as gaming i.g. Star Craft 2. You can easily get 3.5-4.5hours of productivity out of this
system using Microsoft Office Suite applications such as Power-Point or Word ---Sound
Quality:The sound quality is the best I've heard on any system, including the more
recent MBA and MBP. The range of the sound is full with bass and no crackling. To
emphasized the sound quality, the sound can be amplified loud. On the MBA and MBP, I had
to use a program to boost the sound when watching Netflix, no problems with this
Toshiba. ---Build quality: It's a block, but not too bad considering how high end it is.
The system is just under 5lbs and is solid to the feel and I can pick it up with one
hand without flex. The components of the system are laid out well within the chassis
with plenty of air-vents for adequate airflow. The system runs impressively cool and
quite when it's not under a high load. The finish is deep textured plastic that will
literally take you rubbing it across the payment to ruin/scratch it; Toshiba calls the
finish Fusion x2. It looks professional and straight forward. Anyone with realistic
expectations will be happy with the chassis and durability of this laptop in addition to
the legendary reliability of Toshiba products ---Screen:Bright!!! Im extremely impressed
with the display. It is as bright as that on the new Macbook Pros. I keep the brightness
on just past half of the maximum during the day. The images arent as vivid of that as a
MAC, but there is more quality in shades such as blacks when watching videos; MBA did
not have this problem. ---Keyboard/Trackpad:The back-lit keyboard is beautiful and full
with textured palm rests. There is no shortage of night-lighting on the comfortable and
responsive chick-let keyboard. Even the Satellite logo lights up in addition to a
lighted bar across the touch pad. The multi-gesture touch-pad is more responsive than
any system Ive use to exclude a MAC. The left and right keys on the track-pad look and
feel cheap. They are responsive, but compared to the rest of the laptop, the just appear
to be metallic-coated plastic. ---Performance: Its handled everything Ive been able to
throw at it. I have changed the Hard-Drive out for a 120GB Intel SSD. The system will
handle regular gaming on medium to low settings without hiccup. With an SSD, this system
is an efficient, fast and responsive power-house. ---Summary: All in all, this is the
best system Ive used and have been satisfied with. I would have not believed this on
looks alone until I gave it a try being that I was biased for a 2nd Gen i7 processor and
it was the only one available with modest pricing when I returned the MACs. For quality
and performance, this system/laptop is phenomenal."

"I have only owned one particular brand computer and decided to branch out
and try a 'new' brand this time. I must say I'm not at all sorry I did. This Toshiba
Satellite far exceeded my expectations in performance and ease of use."
